TWO BROOKS
Brief description of fishery:
These are two very old mill ponds situated in the middle of a field and woodland. Access can be gained from Turton Road side. Parking outside the 4 cottages and not blocking their driveways or view to exit their drive. You then have to use the public footpath at the right hand side of the cottages cross the style and walk across the field to the wooded area, again over a style and you will have the lakes to either side.
The higher lake has 14 pegs along with some fantastic stocks of Skimmers and decent sized Bream along with Tench, Carp, Roach, Perch and the odd Pike. Members say, Travel light and you will be rewarded.
The last work party was completed in 2023 over a few weekday nights where we cut back the trees and pathways and around all the pegs making them all fishable again. Lots of fish were topping and seen in the water with great reports from people who had fished it.
The lower lake has been the victim of the wind over the years and a couple of large trees have fallen and are across the water blocking out two out of the 12 pegs on the lake. These will take an army of helpers to remove from the water given their size.
Access to the lake is quite difficult due to it being in a woodland area and you have to cross a bridge that was made some years back which is over a stream that’s below. It’s well worth a try for the head of carp, bream and pike in the lake. You’ll have to be patient though!
These lakes are a bit troublesome to maintain given their location. However, we do our best with the members who wish to help out in maintaining our waters. If you want to assist in work parties. please contact Colin Bradshaw (chairman) who will add you to the growing list of volunteers for work parties on our lakes.
