Established in 1892, the club had 3 mill waters to fish.

Overtime, as further waters became available, more were added to the portfolio resulting in our current number of 10 waters to fish upon.
There has been a  steady membership growth throughout the years giving the Association the longevity which should long continue.

In June 2012 the Association was presented with the prestigious Clubmark award giving it further recognition. Additionally
Ramsbottom Angling Association were voted ‘Club of the year’ by the Angling Times in 2021.

As part of the policies in continuing to help the Association develop, it regularly meets and co-operates with many other agencies, i.e: the Environment Agency, Bury Council and other land owners.

In 2014, the club made a successful application to Sport England (Inspired Facilities) and were able to build the base and clubroom on the Clarence Park Lido which was opened in July 2016. 

Since then the Association has built a section incorporating a junior programme, adding additionally, senior and concession sections as well as a dedicated ‘well being’ section. We strive and continue to move the club forward.

Since the beginning we have looked at obtaining waters local to our Association, maintaining them and ensuring they remain suitable for angling. we currently have 10 waters to fish.

Waters available to our members include Scholes Yard, Springwood, Riggs Lodge, Two Brooks, Hazel Hall Lane, Burrs country Park Lodges, sections on the River Irwell and River Roche, Clarence Lido as well as the Association owned waters, Crown Pools and Clarendon Street.

The home of Ramsbottom Angling Association is based on the bank of the Lido, Clarence Park, Bury.

Ramsbottom Angling Association is a totally volunteer based organisation with all proceeds raised through permit membership or other means, being ploughed back into the Association.

It should also be highlighted that due to the success of the junior coach programme, children have progressed from beginners up to International level…. What an achievement
